Miami River Commission Miami River Greenway Planning Retreat

On Friday, January 13, 2006 at the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk and on Friday, January 20, 2006 at Robert King High, the Board of the Miami River Commission, along with representatives of the City of Miami, Miami-Dade County, Miami River stakeholders and Miami River neighborhoods and developments gathered to discuss the future maintenance, security, special events/marketing and funding for the Miami River Greenway.

The Fort Lauderdale day of the retreat consisted of a panel discussion, walk and water taxi tour. Panel members were: Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle; Stephen Tilbrook, Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk Trust (a non-profit organization managing special events and marketing along the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk); Susan Engle, the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND); and Robert Dugan, Ed Stone & Associates, the original contractors of the Fort Lauderdale riverwalk.

On January 20, 2006, the group gathered at Robert King High Building to reflect on the Fort Lauderdale trip, discuss the Miami River Greenways’ current status, and develop cohesive ideas to ensure its future success. Flash Resolutions’ Principal, Janice Fleischer, designed the process and facilitated the day of the event.
